LQT Golf Foundation – Golf Class of LQT Bachelor of Business Program
As business professionals, many people are confused when they are first asked to go golfing with colleagues and partners. So, how important is Golf in business? What advantages does LQT Golf Foundation help “future entrepreneurs” gain?
Why is Golf popular with the business community?
Golf is a sport that uses two tools, clubs and balls, in which players use many different types of clubs to hit the ball into a series of holes on the course in the fewest number of strokes possible.
Unlike most sports, golf does not have a standardized playing field. Each course presents a different layout and terrain, requiring players to adapt to changing conditions such as fairways, roughs (areas with tall grass), and various natural obstacles.

Golf is scored in two common forms: the lowest score by an individual, known as stroke play, or the lowest score on the most individual holes in a complete round by an individual or team, known as match play. Stroke play is the most common format at all levels, especially at the elite level.
Golf is not a very physically demanding sport. The goal of the golfer is to perfect a consistent and perfect swing, which is not something that only young or physically fit people can do. With the diversity of ages and personalization, business people often choose Golf as a bridge to communicate with other business people.
The Relationship Between Golf and Business Partner Personality
According to a survey by the Starwood hotel chain, with a sample of 100 customers using Golf services at the hotel, the following outstanding statistics were recorded:
- 97% of senior leaders choose Golf as a sport to build relationships with business partners
- 92% of participants responded that they play Golf to seek new relationships in business
- More than 50% said that the best way to understand their customer partners is through a game of Golf
- 45% of participants responded that customers tend to discuss business issues when playing Golf
There are many correlations between Golf skills and working style in business. Therefore, Dr. Ly Qui Trung wants to bring this sport into the curriculum, introducing it to LQT students. The primary goal of the LQT Golf Foundation class is to equip LQT Bachelor of Business students with general knowledge about Golf. In addition, the class also creates conditions for you to get acquainted and practice with Golf, in order to inspire and develop the ability to adapt to future business situations.
Dr. Ly Qui Trung emphasizes the importance of the golf principle of “winning yourself.” In his view, the true challenge lies not in defeating others, but in constantly striving to overcome your own limitations. He believes that if the players are not honest while playing, they are very likely to cheat in business. Therefore, winning is not a prerequisite in this sport, your attitude and playing style will be what the opponent will evaluate.
Ly Qui Trung added that when playing with other players, we do not prove that we are better, but prove that we are polite and have a good attitude.
Practical part in LQT Golf Foundation class
Following the theoretical component, the practical session of the LQT Golf Foundation introduces students to the various types of golf clubs for both men and women, including detailed explanations of their design, shape, and specific applications on the course, guided by professional coaches from Ky Hoa Golf Course.
Under the guidance of experienced coaches, students learn how to perform the teeing position in turn, use the basic types of clubs as well as learn how to chipping – an important technique in the world of Golf.

The 60-minute practice session witnessed the efforts of LQT students. From the first few minutes of struggling with the ball serving position, the students were able to serve the ball successfully in the following minutes.
Immediately after that, LQT students were divided into 8 teams to challenge the Minigame “Chipping Ace”, challenging both individual skills and team spirit. After three intense but equally interesting matches, the 3 best teams won and received the prize of a Golf ball with the program logo attached.
