LQT Fashion Class – “Practical Learning, Practical Doing”: 05 Typical Fashion Styles in Business
On September 30, 2023, students of the LQT Bachelor’s Degree in Business had the opportunity to learn and showcase business attire in the LQT Fashion Class, guided by stylist Le Hoai Thu.
Aiming to provide practical experiences aligned with real-world scenarios, the LQT Institute collaborated with industry experts and speakers to conduct special classes featuring hands-on practice designed to mirror situations faced by entrepreneurs in the business world.
When attire becomes a communication tool for entrepreneurs
Part of the course “Soft Skills for Entrepreneurs” in the WSU-LQT BBUS program, the LQT Fashion Class introduces students to the fundamental knowledge of daily attire applicable to both work and social interactions.

Proactively infusing intent into your attire is key to creating the value you desire
Office attire should adhere to general rules concerning traditional, elegant, and professional clothing. It is advisable to avoid overly flashy, bright colors, or inappropriate outfits, and to always maintain the shape and cleanliness of clothing.
Conversely, in social interactions, choose outfits that are suitable for the event and express personal style. Ensure that the clothing is comfortable, well-coordinated in color and accessories, and consider honoring the work environment or cultural event. Confidence in your attire is the most important aspect.
In the LQT Fashion Class, stylist Le Hoai Thu discussed and explained five common styles of attire to the students, including:
- Black Tie (Tuxedo): A special and upscale outfit typically worn at important evening events and formal gatherings such as parties or award ceremonies
- Business Formal: A type of professional attire usually required in corporate environments or significant situations like important client meetings or high-level events
- Business Smart: Professional attire that is lighter than Business Formal. Typical examples of business smart include blazers and polo shirts for men
- Business Casual: Suitable attire for an office environment that does not need to be overly formal. Options like jeans, khakis, and t-shirts represent this style
- Cocktail Attire: Appropriate for events held in the afternoon or evening, such as cocktail parties, gatherings, or small weddings

After completing the theoretical portion of the class, students met with sponsors of office attire, focusing on elegance and formality. They were divided into groups to proactively select their outfits.
Presentation and direct feedback from the LQT Fashion Class judges
Through the theoretical lessons, students began to discover how to choose appropriate attire for different situations. To foster teamwork and encompass overall knowledge, the judges required students to present and discuss their chosen outfits.
Upon receiving the assignment, all 42 students collaborated to plan their outfits and presentation scripts. Divided into 10 groups with 5 different fashion styles, they selected clothing and accessories and performed in front of the advisors and sponsors of the LQT Fashion Class.

After presenting various outfits and discussing their applicability to the judges, the participants received direct feedback on their presentation style, color coordination, and the sensitivity in using attire to enhance meaning and purpose.
At the conclusion of the LQT Fashion Class, students were equipped with knowledge about office fashion and different types of attire suitable for social interactions, crucial for entrepreneurs who need to appear polished in every situation.
