Strategy to reposition the food alcohol and wine industry

In fact, products in the alcohol and wine category have long been labeled as “harmful” to health in the eyes of consumers. During the discussion, Dr. Ly Qui Trung asked: “What strategies can alcohol and wine companies apply to build a positive and socially responsible image in the hearts of customers?”

In response to the question, Ms. Tran Thuy Diep, Deputy Director of Sales at Huy Viet Tay Do Company, shared that although alcohol and alcohol products are sensitive products, they have existed for many generations. Alcohol itself is not “toxic” if produced properly and consumed in reasonable doses. The important thing is to have the right way to convey information so that consumers understand and feel more secure when using the product.

According to Ms. Diep, there is a stream of opinions from the market that alcohol consumption is alcohol consumption. The reason for this misunderstanding is that the dissemination of information about alcohol and alcohol is not accurate. Ms. Diep emphasized that there are many types of alcohol and not all types of alcohol can be consumed or used in food. For example, industrial alcohol and antiseptic alcohol are often used for technical and medical purposes, while food alcohol is the standard, safest type of alcohol for use in the production of alcohol and other foods.

Ms. Diep said: “Industrial alcohol is the type of alcohol used in industries, not suitable for consumption because it contains many impurities and toxins that can be harmful to health. Antiseptic alcohol is often used in medicine to clean surfaces and disinfect, but if used incorrectly, it can silently cause damage to health when inhaled or exposed to the body for a long time.”

“The safest type of alcohol is food grade alcohol, also known as raw alcohol, which is specially produced to ensure that it does not contain toxic substances and is suitable for use in food and beverage processing,” Ms. Diep shared.

Ms. Diep concluded that an effective marketing strategy for alcohol production companies lies not only in producing high-quality products but also in educating the market. Consumers need to be provided with accurate and detailed information about the differences between types of alcohol, as well as the safety standards in alcohol production. This not only helps build trust but also creates goodwill from customers.

Discussion between Dr. Ly Qui Trung and the Board of Directors of Huy Viet Tay Do Company on “Ideal of Succession”

Mr. Tran Viet Huy, CEO of Huy Viet Tay Do Company, has nurtured his love and understanding of the alcohol and wine production industry from an early age. Since the age of 10, he has followed his father to support workers at the family factory. Stories and knowledge about the industry gradually permeated him over the years and became a solid foundation for his future career.

In 2017, the CEO of Huy Viet Tay Do Company at that time, Mr. Huy’s father, was unable to continue working due to health reasons, causing the company to fall into crisis. At this time, at the age of 25, Mr. Huy had to take on the role of executive, shouldering all responsibilities in a challenging situation. Although he had time to learn from his father, he still could not avoid feeling bewildered when having to manage a team of experienced and older employees.

During this period, Mr. Huy chose the virtue of “patience” as the guiding principle for all decisions. Patience and perseverance not only helped him overcome challenges, but also became his philosophy of life and work until today. This is also the mindset that Dr. Ly Qui Trung, founder of the LQT Bachelor of Business program, always conveys to students. Dr. Ly Qui Trung believes that: “When we are young, we may lack experience, but to run a successful company and gain respect, we must have the ability and perseverance.”

Bringing personal identity into the ideal of succession

The question posed by the students was: “We have shaped ourselves into what kind of person we will become, what are our core values when we grow up. So if one day we have to take over the family business and this requires us to reshape our personal identity, how should we overcome it?”

According to Mr. Tran Viet Huy, the most important thing is to nurture gratitude towards the previous generation. They have placed their trust and given us the responsibility of taking over the family business. This gratitude will be the motivation for us to continue our journey. When taking on responsibility, changing ourselves to adapt to the new role is inevitable.

According to Dr. Ly Qui Trung, finding a job that we are truly passionate about is not always easy. If we are lucky enough to do a job that we are both good at and love, it is no different from hitting the “jackpot”. However, most of us often take on tasks that are not our top priority. However, the most important thing is to find joy and excitement in everything we do. Learning to love your work, enjoy it, and give it your all is the path to lasting success and satisfaction.
