LQT Bachelor of Business students take a Golf foundation class
On November 29, 2024, WSU-LQT BBUS students experienced Golf – “The elegant game of business people” under the guidance of a professional coach.
Golf is not just a sport
Golf is an outdoor sport where players aim to get the golf ball into holes on the course with the fewest number of shots possible. Golf courses are often designed with diverse terrains such as fairways, rough, bunkers and greens.
The special thing about Golf compared to other sports is that there is no referee to closely supervise. Players manage their own scores and comply with the rules, so honesty is considered a top factor in this sport.

Why is Golf important for business people?
Golf is not only a recreational sport but also a tool for building and developing business relationships. Here are the main reasons why Golf is the top choice for business people:
1. Honesty
The honesty of Golf is demonstrated through the players scoring their own points, accepting mistakes and handling situations fairly. These values are an important foundation for business people to build reputation, strengthen trust and maintain professionalism in the marketplace.
2. Emotional management skills
Golf requires high concentration and good emotional control. Each shot requires players to carefully analyze, choose the right strategy and maintain calmness. These skills are essential for business people when making important decisions.
3. Build relationships
A 4-5 hour round of golf is an ideal opportunity to chat, learn about and build relationships with partners or customers. The open space and comfortable atmosphere of the golf course help discussions become more natural, creating the premise for long-term cooperation.
4. Show personal style and values
Golf playing style, from attitude, handling situations to hitting techniques, all reflect each person’s personality and values. These factors help business people build a professional image and create a positive impression in the eyes of partners.
Golf Basics
1. Golf Equipment
– Golf clubs: Including many types such as drivers (long shots), irons (medium shots), wedges (close shots) and putters (on the green)
– Golf balls: Designed with small grooves (dimples) to increase the ability to fly far and stable
– Ball lifters
2. Basic techniques
– Grip: The correct grip helps players control the direction of the ball and ensure that the power is transmitted optimally. A firm, comfortable grip will minimize errors and bring higher accuracy in each shot.
– Stance: The standing posture plays an important role in maintaining stability and balance on the course. Players need to place their feet firmly on the ground and keep the distance between the two legs suitable to ensure flexibility when turning. Slightly bending the knees and distributing the center of gravity evenly create ideal conditions for an accurate shot.
– Swing: Swing is the most important technique in golf, divided into three main stages: backswing (preparation), downswing (hitting the ball), and follow-through (completion). To achieve a perfect swing, players need to coordinate their arms, body and legs, while maintaining high concentration and a sense of rhythm in each movement.

3. Rules and scoring
– Stroke Play: Based on the total number of strokes to complete 18 holes
– Match Play: Compare the scores of each hole between two players or teams
– Par: The standard number of strokes to complete a hole
Golf learning experience of LQT Bachelor of Business students
On the morning of November 29, 2024, WSU-LQT BBUS students participated in a Golf foundation class at Tan Son Nhat Golf Course. This activity is part of the “Soft Skills for Entrepreneurs” course of the LQT Bachelor of Business program, helping students practice important soft skills such as strategic thinking, emotional management and building effective relationships. At the same time, approaching Golf also gives students the opportunity to improve their confidence and professional demeanor, creating a solid foundation for their future career journey.

With the help of coaches, students were divided into two groups to explore the golf course. During the tour, students were introduced in detail to typical areas such as fairways, greens and bunkers, along with the strategic role of each part of the course in a match. In addition to learning about the course structure, students also learned about basic rules, scoring methods, and professional terms commonly used in this sport.
After that, students practiced at the Driving Range. Here, they were instructed on basic techniques such as how to hold the club, standing posture and backswing. Although this was their first time getting acquainted with golf, students showed enthusiasm and quick learning ability. Although their initial shots were not perfect, thanks to perseverance and concentration, they quickly improved their techniques and became more confident in each movement.

Ending
Through the Golf foundation class, WSU-LQT BBUS students are exposed to the typical “language” of the business world, while cultivating lessons on attitude, style and honesty, the core elements that help entrepreneurs build a solid foundation on their entrepreneurial journey.
